Accion Serving Illinois & Northwest Indiana
A Polished Work

Our Impact in 2017

We measure a loan beyond dollars disbursed. Each loan Accion makes is measured by the impact generated by that small business owner, in the form of wealth and jobs, within their communities.

How We Do It

Through capital, coaching, and connections we meet the needs of entrepreneurs across Illinois and Indiana.

Accion is a relationship lender. We build trusted relationships with our clients and are invested in their success. Our loans include Credit Builder, SBA Community Advantage, and Micro loans which range from $500 up to $100,000. Because we are a nonprofit, we are able to work nimbly with customers who have limited collateral, smaller loan requests, or damaged credit.

We provide free coaching to every entrepreneur we meet. Our Community Lenders coach our clients throughout the entirety of the loan process, and in 2017 we hired a Director of Business Coaching and Connections to scale those services we already provide. We now offer in-depth assessment and assistance to all entrepreneurs, including pre- and post-loan clients as well as small business owners who don't need or qualify for a loan.

We make valuable connections for entrepreneurs: to customers and suppliers, other entrepreneurs, procurement opportunities, physical space, and service providers. In 2017, we launched the Accion In Your Neighborhood Program and the Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Lab; through these programs we were able to answer questions, offer networking, provide mentorship, and make introductions to entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their businesses.
